In Country

This post is not going to be about anime stuff unfortunately. It is about a book that I have to read over the summer vacation. It is a novel written by Bobbie Ann Mason, about Samantha Hughes who is in search of the truth about the Vietnamese War. It is a book divided into three parts.

The first part is about Sam, her uncle Emmett and her grandmother who go to Washington D.C to visit the Vietnam Veteran's memorial. The second part is a flashback, about the summer before the trip do D.C. It gives background information about Sam's parents, Dwayne and Irene, since Sam never got to meet her father because he died when she was still young. The third part is where they reach the memorial in Washington.

I have only read the first chapter so far, so I can't really comment on it. There has also been a film produced in 1989, directed by Norman Jewison from which Bruce Willis has won a nomination for Golden Globe best supporting actor.

Battery

This sports drama is about a a teenage prodigy pitcher (Nakayama Yuma) who meets a another teenager who can actually catch his fast balls (Takada Sho). As they start playing together they not only form a strong bond as a battery, but they also built a strong friendship. 

I watched this drama because I'm kinda into any story about sports and since my softball season just ended, I decided to watch this one. It is a very nice story, the plot is really good. Not a real drama where you cry and all, but it is tragic. The only downpart of the drama is the ending. I did not like the ending because I thought it came too sundden. I wish the story went on. What makes me mad is that this is actually based on a novel by Asano Atsuko and since I can't read japanese I won't be able to know if that was really the real ending T.T

Vacation Starting

This weekend I have been watching dramas one after the other. Ever since I finished writing an Encyclopedia for school (12 topic intros with each a 400 essay prompt) I am so happy about the free time I have now that I started watching Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese dramas non stop. I watch them on www.mysoju.com and sometimes when the videos suck on that site, I watch on www.dramacrazy.net. The way I watch the dramas is by searching all romance dramas in alphabetical order.
